In the words of Martin Luther, "To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing."
Holy God, On this Reformation Sunday we are reminded that you call us to look at our faith and go deeper. To explore and question to better understand our relationship with you Great Creator. 500 years ago, Martin Luther did just that and we thank you God for all the people throughout history and in our lives who have helped us examine and know you better, O God. God, we give you great thanks for this community of which we live in. For the town of Weymouth and all the elected officials. We thank you God for Paul and all the volunteers who work with him on the Substance Abuse and Prevention Team in town. God we pray for Paul, Darrell, Michelle and all of the avid supporters who work so hard and tirelessly to end the opiod epidemic here. God we also give thanks for the first responders who are there, treating and taking care of people who have overdosed. As they see overdose after overdose and none of it making sense, we pray O God that you are there with them. Instilling the same compassion they had for the first overdose to all who are affected. Be with them we pray, when times become so hard and their compassion wears thins. We pray God, that our community continue to see people who are struggling with addiction as your children and not their disease. God we also thank you for the hope that is in the world, the light that shines which we know as Jesus. We thank you for the hope that Christ brings to us and we thank you for the hope that others bring to us as well. Hope is a form of Your great love and for that we give thanks and pray that we bring hope to one another. God as October comes to an end we pray for all the causes that we remember this month. For breast cancer awareness and other cancer awareness, and for domestic violence we pray. We pray for all the men and women who have been assaulted, who have been victims of sexual abuse or sexual harassment. God we pray for all the people who are currently dealing with cancer, or who have died from cancer or who are left on this earth to mourn a loved one lost to cancer. And God we pray this coming week that the children have a fun and safe halloween. As they dress up and pretend to be anything they want to be, we pray that we continue to support our children's dreams. That we reinforce their talents and abilities and encourage each child to live out their dreams. Forgive us when we squash a dream. Forgive us when we move away from you God. Forgive us. As together we pray, Our Father....

Whose ways are not our ways and whose thoughts are not our thoughts. You alone God are the most powerful. We stand in awe O great Creator of your world. The beauty of this place stops us in our footsteps. From the sun rises to the sun sets, the glorious pink, yellow and orange which fills the skies never cease to amaze us. These moments are an unexpected gift of pure joy and beauty and for those we are ever grateful. God as weather slowly becomes warmer, the days become longer and the sun shines brighter we are reminded that time continues to move and that nothing stays the same. There are good times O God when we wish for time to freeze and stop for a moment, so that we can hold on to what we have now. Then in the hard times we wish for time to pass more quickly. God remind us that in the hard times there is always light of a new day. This morning God we also give thanks for the people who stand beside us when things are hard. For the love and support they give, for the care they provide and for all they do out of love. For these people God we say thank you. And in the silence, O God we lift up those people as well as other prayers which we hold deep within our hearts…. God in your mercy, hear our prayers. Amen. 1/10/2017 0 Comments Prayer for GuidanceGod of guidance,
When we feel like we have come to a dead end in our lives, when the roadway stops and there is no longer a clear path leading the way. When there seems to be no options left and we are left feeling defeated or lost, guide us Great Guider. Guide our hearts, our minds and our decisions. Show us the course You will pave, not with hard unyielding asphalt but rather with Your everlasting love. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.

We thank you O God, for sending us the greatest teacher of all that we might learn from him in his death and resurrection. Hallelujah Christ is Risen! Just as the disciples came to the dark tomb we too have been there. We have sat in the dark, feeling empty, alone. Amen. 9/11/2015 0 Comments 9/11Holy God, Today we remember the horrific events of 9/11. Even though it has been 14 years since that tragic day our hearts still grieve. We remember exactly where we were that day when we heard the news. We were your people at work, in class, and at home watching the events unfold. Loving God, we remember our friends, countrymen and women, firefighters, police and military who lost their lives that day. Be with their families as they remember. Hold them in your loving arms, comfort us all and remind us that death does not have the last word. Remind us also great Creator of all the human goodness that came from this horrific event. The number of heroes who stepped up and saved others. The people who ran in and not away. The workers who tirelessly worked to find victims, the civilians who fled to give blood, wanting to help in any possible way and for all who prayed that day. May we continue to pray this day. We pray in thanksgiving and we pray in hope for a more peaceful world. May we be your instruments of peace. In the name of the Creator, Christ and Spirit One we pray. Amen. Today marks 70 years since the US dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshema and a second one on Nagaski three days later. These bombs have been credited with bringing an end to World War II. Since those days more than 300,000 total deaths have been attributed to the bomb including those who died from radiation-related cancers[1]. The atomic bomb is the greatest example of do the ends justify the means? Prayer: Gracious and Powerful God, We are your people who continually ask “what should I do?” We question our decisions and others decisions. We are a world without all the answers and we try to weight our decisions. Great Creator we ask when do the ends ever justify the means? On this day, 70 years after the B-29 Enola Gay dropped the "Little Boy" bomb, I pray for those lives lost and the lives directly affected. The ramifications of that day continue to this day. It is a great reminder of the significance of our international and political actions. Holy One help our country and the world work towards peace and away from destruction. We are people who avoid conflict and blame others, help us look in the mirror and be advocates for a peaceful world because when we hurt others we are hurting the Body of Christ for we are all a part of that great Body. Be with us this day as we remember. In the name of the Creator, Christ and Spirit One. Amen. This week has been a trying week. Hate and prejudice have risen to the surface. We are a society who lives in a culture of privilege and racism. We have come so far, great Creator, yet we are reminded how far we still have yet to go. In a country that claims to be the land of the free we still feel and see that not all are free. Free from judgment, Free from abuse, Free from physical violence, Free to do your Holy work. God I pray for Sandra Bland and her family. She worked to fight police brutality and worked for change calling for us all to start this work in our own home and with ourselves. Help us working God to begin or continue the work in our own hearts. Open our hearts God to be changed, to grow and to love. Projector God our country was once again shaken yesterday when four of your children were killed on a Marine base in Chattanooga. I pray for their families and fellow soldiers. Wrap your loving arms around them. Thank you Holy One for walking this world with us. Guide us, hold us and help us. In the name of the Creator, Christ and Spirit One, Amen. 4/5/2015 0 Comments Easter Pastoral PrayerHoly, Living God was come before you today in celebration and exhortation for the risen Christ. Just as the disciples came to the dark tomb we too have been there. We have sat in the dark, feeling empty, alone. Jesus you felt and saw the human emotions of fear, betrayal, suffering, sorrow and grief. We too are your people O God who face these same emotions. Open our eyes, touch our hands, and warm our hearts O God allowing us to feel your Holy Spirit here with us now. We release these human burdens of fear, betrayal, suffering, sorrow and grief to You because we know You care and are walking with us. We know you are here O God because Jesus is risen. Jesus came out of the dark, empty tomb and he arose. Rise up in us to O Holy One, We want to rise up! God who is as close to us as our own breathe yet reaches to the farthest star in the universe we come to you knowing we can do more.
Thank you ever-loving God for this day and for your Son Jesus Christ. Thank you for this community of followers may we not forget this day come tomorrow when we return to our daily routines. Grant us the courage, excitement, energy and passion to continue beyond this Easter Sunday. And mighty God we pray for all those around the world, particularly the families of those in German airplane crash, who suffered an unimaginable loss of loved ones. For the 147 innocent students who were killed in Kenya. O God we pray. We pray: For Hope For us work through love For people to come together For peace And in the silence dear God we pray for those we hold dear to our hearts……. Lord hear our prayers. Amen. 3/22/2015 0 Comments Spring Pastoral PrayerHoly and Gracious God,
We gather as your beloved people, in awe of all the mystery that you are. We thank you heavenly God for sending Jesus to us so that we may have a glimmer of your love. Merciful God, we confess we are people who at times are walking through darkness. Darkness of depression, Darkness of relationships, Darkness of the seasons, Forgive us great Creator. As we point to the cross during this Lenten season with great anticipation of life after death. Remind us Holy One that darkness does not have the final word. That You are here among us, ready to resurrect us. God we pray for the Shi’ite people who while worshipping peacefully in their mosque were attacked by a Yemeni suicide bomber killing at least 137 of Your people. God we mourn for those people and their families. We are thankful for our safe state and that we are able to worship You in peace without fear we ask O creator that you make us instruments of your peace God we pray for peace Protector God, while we pray for peace. We are aware that there are people in our own communities that live in fear. Fear of the night, Fear of the other, Fear for what tomorrow might bring Sending your cloak of security to us, wrap us in your love and help us to be strong. God there are members of our community we lift up to you in prayer…. And others oh God which we hold close to our hearts that we lift up in silence… Thank you Heavenly Creator, for hearing our prayers and for being present. And thank You for each one of us that we can be each other’s support and shoulder to lean on. Lastly Great God we ask that You: Open our ears to hear your voice Open our eyes to see where you are leading us Open our minds to understand you in a new way Open our hearts to your love In the name of the Creator, Christ and Spirit One we prayer. Amen. 10/24/2014 0 Comments Fall 2014 Pastoral PrayerCreator of all things, we are reminded of your majestic power as we witness the changing of your leaves from green to bright yellow, red and orange. Your mystery and timing surprise us and keeps our hope alive. When we want out of our current daily grind, You see through the clutter. Open our hearts and minds so that we may see Your wondrous ways. Fill our hopes and hold them in our loving hands.
Merciful God, forgive us when we doubt and when we ask why. Often times we are rushed people who have knowingly and unknowingly done things we should not have done. Often times when things do not go our way we harshly blame ourselves or we turn and quickly to blame others. Often we question You, and ask why? Forgiving God, come in through our brokenness and questions. Forgive us we pray when we do not strive to reach Your will for us. Teach us with your truth and mercy. Help us see when we have inflected pain on one another. Guide us to learn from ours and each other's mistakes. Hold us accountable and hold us gently, when we feel as though we might break. Remind us mighty guider to lean on You when things seem too hard. Ever present God, we pray for those who love and care for us, both the ones we witness and those that go unnoticed. For individuals who need our love, those who are distance in location and distance at heart. Grant them and us, Your close relationship. For those whose families are changing, we offer our prayers of support. And for those entering new life chapters, we offer prayers for direction. We pray for the people here and across the world that live in fear of their neighbor, grant them Your peace. To those who live under a dark cloud of emotion, grant them Your shining light. For all those scared or infected by disease, we pray for health and healing. Join all Your children we pray in bringing Your will into our lives. Amen |
