9/11

Picture
Holy God,

Today we remember the horrific events of 9/11. Even though it has been 14 years since that tragic day our hearts still grieve.  We remember exactly where we were that day when we heard the news. We were your people at work, in class, and at home watching the events unfold.

Loving God, we remember our friends, countrymen and women, firefighters, police and military who lost their lives that day. Be with their families as they remember. Hold them in your loving arms, comfort us all and remind us that death does not have the last word.

Remind us also great Creator of all the human goodness that came from this horrific event. The number of heroes who stepped up and saved others. The people who ran in and not away. The workers who tirelessly worked to find victims, the civilians who fled to give blood, wanting to help in any possible way and for all who prayed that day.

May we continue to pray this day. We pray in thanksgiving and we pray in hope for a more peaceful world. May we be your instruments of peace.

In the name of the Creator, Christ and Spirit One we pray. Amen.
